      Familiar faces at RGA: Taucia

      Taucia Pullins

Taucia works as a certified nursing assistant, or CNA, at Rockford Gastroenterology Associates and will celebrate her 24th year with us in November.

She helps patients through the appointment process, greeting people in the lobby and taking vitals in the exam rooms. Taucia also assists with certain procedures and helps communicate with hospitals and outside providers about patient records.

The team approach of caring for patients at RGA is part of what she enjoys most about her job.

"I enjoy interacting with people, to know that I am providing a service. I work with a good group of professionals here, and my goal is to make every day a smooth transition for the whole team," she said.

Because of her long tenure working with GI patients, she is comfortable talking with family and friends about such topics as the importance of colonoscopies and getting tested for hepatitis. Her experience in the field has made others more comfortable broaching those topics, too.

"As you talk to people, you find things out because most GI diseases can’t be seen from outside the body," she said. "There are so many people out there who have GI-related conditions, and people tend to minimize their symptoms because they can’t see what’s wrong."

Taucia said if patients are anxious about their appointments, she tries to make them feel more comfortable by encouraging them to be honest about their symptoms and concerns. That helps with the accuracy of diagnosing conditions and recommending treatment.

"I have great respect for these doctors and nurse practitioners,” she said. “To me, they’re a very distinguished group of people. They keep up with what’s new and forthcoming when it comes to treatment.”

We are fortunate to have Taucia as part of our RGA family. Congratulations on 24 years at RGA!!
