    Dr. Sumeet K. Tewani joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2014.

    Dr. Tewani received his combined Bachelor’s Degree in the Medical Sciences and Medical Degree at Boston University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine, fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and an additional fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his gastroenterology training he served as Chief Fellow for the program. He also completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and most recently he completed an International Observership at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad, India.

    Dr. Tewani is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of several medical societies at the state, national, and international level, including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, European Association for the Study of the Liver, and Massachusetts Medical Society.

    Dr. Tewani has a broad interest in digestive diseases and endoscopy, with special interests in liver, biliary, and pancreatic diseases, gastrointestinal oncology, and Barrett's esophagus. He has advanced training in the therapeutic techniques of interventional endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), and radiofrequency ablation (RFA).
